The Almeda Fire of 2020

On the morning of September 8, a fire started in north Ashland was pushed by high winds through the towns of Talent and Phoenix. It is estimated that over 2,350 homes were lost to the fire as well as numerous commercial buildings. Both Talent and Phoenix sustained significant damage.

Phoenix Talent Fire Relief Fund: 80% of Phoenix Elementary School students lost their homes. 50% of the students at Talent Elementary lost their homes.
