Looking to expand your outdoor adventure repertoire? If so, there are many exciting things to do in and around Phoenix.

If you want to take the family on a fun outdoor journey, Natural Bridge Trail is about an hour from Phoenix. It’s the perfect day trip — pack the car in the morning, hike the trail, then grab an artisan snack on the way home (but more on that later!).

Beautiful Natural Bridge Trail

Located off of Highway 62 near Union Creek, Natural Bridge Trail is approximately 45 miles northeast of Medford and easily accessible to travelers.

The pullout for the trail is right before Union Creek. There’s a general store, the famous Beckie’s Cafe, as well as an ice cream shop.

Natural Bridge is a 1.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail that is good for hikers of all skill levels. The trail is always beautiful, but the best time to go is from May until November.

The trail begins at the Natural Bridge viewpoint parking lot and goes upriver on the east side of the Rogue River. The Upper Rogue then drops into an ancient lava tube and runs underground, forming a natural land bridge. There’s much to see along the trail, including beaver ponds, birds and numerous tree and plant species. The paved trail is barrier-free, with benches to rest.

Post-Hike Snacks

After a hike, it’s always a good idea to grab snacks for later. And we know a place the entire family will love!

If you want to travel the culinary globe without leaving home, then you must try the artisan cheeses from The Oregon Cheese Cave. Adults and kids alike will fawn over the offerings you’ll find in this inviting cheese shop along Phoenix’s main road.

The Oregon Cheese Cave has a variety of Oregon and European cheeses, in addition to wine, beer and cider for the adults. They also sell custom cheese platters! Cheese is the perfect meal or snack, and you’ll find high quality products at The Oregon Cheese Cave.
