A Woodland Oasis
Lake of the Woods is a beautiful high mountain lake, and just one of a few natural lakes in Southern Oregon suitable for multi-use recreation. It’s also one of the most popular outdoor recreation sites in the region.
It’s located near the crest of the Cascade Range in the Fremont–Winema National Forest and covers 1,146 acres. It was named by Oliver C. Applegate in 1870. The small, unincorporated community of Lake of the Woods is located on the eastern shore of the lake.
Numerous Recreation Opportunities
If you want to take the family for a fun weekend drive, Lake of the Woods Resort has RV sites and cabins available everyday. You’ll have the freedom to explore the area and take in the beautiful surrounding scenery. After exploring, venture over to the resort’s restaurant for a meal before calling it a day.
Or maybe you’re planning your next adventure a couple months out, once the area is draped in glistening snow. If you visit Lake of the Woods during the winter, you’ll enjoy many different activities, including:
- Snowmobiling
- X country skiing
- Snowshoeing
- Ice fishing
