In the winter, Southern Oregon transforms into a beautiful snowy oasis. Frosty, snow-capped mountains and powdery hills are just waiting to be explored. Whether you ski, snowboard or start a snowball fight, winter is an amazing time in the Rogue Valley!

One of our favorite winter places to explore is Mt. Ashland because there are plenty of activities for the entire family. You’ll return numerous weekends throughout the season to discover everything Mt. Ashland has to offer.

Frosty Fun in the Wintertime

Mt. Ashland is a massive winter playground, and has been a local favorite since 1964. Like a beautiful jewel, this snowy mountain glistens in the winter and offers many thrilling outdoor adventure activities.

If you love to get your pulse racing, an exhilarating day of skiing and snowboarding should be the first thing on your list. Slide down a snowy mountain, rush past the trees and feel the air against your cheeks. It’s thrilling! In between your runs up and down the mountain, enjoy the beautiful, natural environment while you play in the snow.

And when you’re in the area, visit Grouse Gap Sno-Park for sledding. It’s just up the road from Mt. Ashland and a great sledding spot. Time to race down the mountain!

However, if you’ve never gone skiing or snowboarding before, make sure you have plenty of water with you to stay hydrated. Additionally, if you want to make a full day of your winter activities, start with breakfast at one of the valley’s local breakfast spots. This will fuel you up for a day of adventure and excitement.

If you’re new to the winter recreation scene and have questions, the experienced staff at Mt. Ashland will answer your questions. They want you to have a good time and will do their best to help you.
